ILCA UK National Training - ILCA 7, 6 & 4

Tickets will initially be released for a group of eight sailors, with a waiting list available. If the waiting list fills, additional coaches can be arranged to form another group — so please do join it. Training (and any additional groups) will only run if at least six sailors sign up. Were not able to open bookings for 78 February 2026 just yet, as WPNSA may be unavailable that weekend. Were currently exploring alternative dates with them.
We encourage sailors to view the National Training at WPNSA as a series of training weekends and, once eligible, attend as many as possible for continuity of coaching. They will run from October 2025 to March 2026.
National Training is intended to benefit the more experienced ILCA sailor, in the top half of the fleet. Eligibility criteria is outlined below.
Regional Open Training will also be made available over the same 6 month period, which is open to all abilities.
ILCA UK National Training How It Works To qualify for National Training, sailors must:
- Have event results from a minimum of 2 of the 3 qualifying events before the Inlands (for National Training 1), and a minimum of 2 of the 4 events after the Inlands (for subsequent National Training events), AND finish in the top 50% of boys or top 50% of girls at those events.
- The qualifying events are UK National Champs 10-15 Aug 2025 Plas Heli,
National Open 3 20-21 Sep 2025 East Lothian, National Open 4 11-12 Oct 2025 WPNSA, National Open 5 18-19 Oct 2025 WPNSA and UK Inland Champs 1-2 Nov 2025 Draycote Water SC.
Important to know:
- Meeting these criteria makes a sailor eligible to book a place; places are then offered on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on venue capacity, rib and coach availability.
- If the event is full, please join the waiting list we always aim to include as many qualifying sailors as possible.
- If you have a valid reason for missing a qualifying event, you must request redress in line with our policy by emailing scorer@ilca.uk before the event booking deadline. Any requests received after this date will not be considered.
- If you book a place but do not meet the eligibility criteria, your booking will be cancelled and refunded, minus a £5 administration fee.
