KW Sailing Race Clinic - WPNSA 27-31 May

Are you an ambitious ILCA 4 sailor looking to transition from national competition to the world stage? This 5-day extensive coaching clinic is specifically designed for athletes aspiring to compete internationally and join the next generation of elite British sailors.

The Coach: Kai Wolgram

Learn from a full-time ILCA 7 sailor in the British sailing system. Kai Wolgram brings a wealth of current, high-level racing experience to this clinic:

  • Performance Coach - Brings over four seasons of squad coaching experience with the RYA Welsh ILCA Squad and more recently the Andrew Simpson Performance Academy, notably coaching the ILCA 4 boys at the 2026 Youth European Championships.
  • Elite Competitor - Recently finished 2nd in a 2026 WPNSA National Open, sharing the podium with British Sailing Team sailor Sam Whaley and Olympian Micky Beckett.
  • International Veteran - Represented Great Britain at fifteen World and European Championships across the ILCA 4, 6, and 7 classes over the past decade.
  • World-Class Pedigree - A member of the British ILCA 7 Transition Squad, training under Olympic Head Coach Chris Gowers and three-time Olympian Alison Young.
  • Proven Track Record - Former U19 National Champion and top-10 finisher (7th overall) at the U21 ILCA World Championships.

Clinic Objectives

This is not just a general training camp; it is a High Performance Race Clinic focused on the technical and mental requirements of international-level racing:

  • Advanced Boat Handling - Learn and refine the technical nuances of steering, sheeting and body kinetics for the ILCA class.
  • Elite Racing Strategy: Developing the "quick thinking" and tactical excellence needed to compete against the world's best.
  • The Athlete Body & Mindset: Insights into the physiological and psychological preparation used by full-time athletes in the British Sailing programme.
  • International Transition: Guidance on the pathway from ILCA 4 to youth squads and professional sailing careers.

Small training groups will be selected on the basis of similar experience and capability levels to ensure targeted high-quality coaching to each groups specific needs.
