ILCA Skills Week - Plas Heli

22nd - 26 July

https://plasheli.org/

Entries will open 9 April 2024.

Our aims for the week are:

  1. Support any sailor transitioning into the ICA from another class.
  2. Support and develop any sailor moving between/new to ILCA rigs
  3. Offer an opportunity to train at a world class venue with fantastic coaches to all class members, of any experience, any ability and any age!

The training is Monday to Friday at Plas Heli and offers a huge amount of flexibility in the schedule. As always, boat speed will be a large area of focus, along with advanced rigging and tuning, boat handling and racing. With five days of training, this offers a unique and great opportunity to embed new skills and techniques rather than talk and start the development phase that may happen at training weekends.

Sailing in this event will also give you an opportunity to get to know local conditions ahead of the Autumn qualifier in September (14-15th).

All coaches are ILCA specialists and work within the RYA and UKLA system at a high level. Their sailing skills are matched by their sparkling personalities which makes the learning a whole lot of fun!

FAQs

The intention is to offer flexible training dates, between the Welsh ILCA Championships (19-21st July), and the ILCA 6 Youth European Championships in Ballyholme (27th July) facilitating some pre-event racing and training en route to Northern Ireland.

There are two ticket types: a ONE day ticket for Monday and a FOUR day ticket for Tuesday - Friday. Please book both if you would like to sail for all 5 days.

This allows for a rest day on Monday 22nd July for those sailors who would like to compete in the Welsh ILCA champs first. Or just book 5 days Monday - Friday training in the sun and on the beach! We hope to run some evening events, tailored to the weather, eg e-sailing or beach sports and a social evening, similar to the WPNSA event.
